THE MAN IN THE GRAY FLANNEL SUIT (1956)

Perfectly tailored for Peck

THE MAN IN THE GRAY FLANNEL SUIT is just this side of a  soap opera, but it's an engaging one, and after half a century, still a treat to watch. At the center is good old reliable Greg Peck, bedeviled by memories of WW2 and by present-day trials and tribulations in the 'burbs with his wife (Jennifer Jones) and at his new Mad Av P.R. job. And oh yes, a little souvenir from the time he served in Italy hasa just popped up. If you ever wondered what the monochromatic Eisenhower years were like, this Technicolor film gives you a pretty good peek. (Trivia note: Peck and Jones had co-starred a decade earlier in the steamy western, DUEL IN THE SUN.)
