TWO FOR THE ROAD, two young people (Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney) meet cute, travel around Europe, spat and spar, fall in love, marry, have kids, argue a little, argue a lot, separate, and nearly divorce – not always in that order, thanks to unusual time-shuffling. Deftly directed by Stanley Donen (SINGIN' IN THE RAIN), this is a delightful and entertaining romp – stylish, witty, and intelligent – with wonderful acting, lovely score, and astute observations on coupling, both comedic and serious.
